We were fortunate enough to be involved in the ‘One Town Centre’ partnership project between Lovell Tree Collection and Welwyn Hatfield council.
Prior to building works starting in the town centre and near by car park we were instructed to tender for a mixture of tree removal, hedge removal, pollarding and pruning to boundary to allow access for machines for works starting in 2022. Works had to be started before the nesting season leaving us just 3 weeks to prepare for this major undertaking.
Being a council led project and working with the prestigious builders that are Lovell, health and safety was a huge factor in winning this job. It was a little daunting at first as we hadn’t yet worked directly for a multi billion pound business before. Fortunately as safety is such a high priority for KW Tree Care we already had health and safety consultants on retainer to assist with the vast amounts of paperwork the council required which included; Programme of works, risk assessments for each process, method statements and multiple site visits to instil confidence in the client that we are as safe as practically possible given the dangerous nature of our industry. The Lovell Customer Care was second to none and it was a true inspiration to see how much they cared for the wellbeing of the general public.
To add further complications to an already large undertaking, the town centre had to remain as a ‘live’ site. This meant that we could not close the shopping areas and instead had to ensure only small sections were shut off. Pedestrian walk ways were set up, banksmen were on site at all times as well as a liaison officer to assist with any questions the public had with regards to the tree works. We love a challenge a received great feedback from members of the public throughout the week.
The project was completed 2 days early before the cut off (We worked like hell the first 2 days to get ahead) much to the relief of everyone involved in the project!
Fast-forward to 2024 The Lovell tree collection will be quite the site for local residents to enjoy for years to come. Another string to the Lovell Customer Care bow!
